 Background
Update Software is probably best known for having created and published
The Cochrane Library, the WHO Reproductive Health Library,
and the United Kingdom's National Research Register. Although
these publications remain important to us, we are involved in a
variety of other projects as well. These range from assembling specialist
publications such as the Renal Health Library, to implementing
online authoring and reporting systems, to creating decision support
systems designed to reduce medical errors.
Our approach
We work mainly in partnership with other groups, both small and
large, to assemble and disseminate high-quality information.
In developing The Cochrane Library, for example, we worked with
the 90+ groups associated with the Cochrane Collaboration, and prepared
the documents they provided for publication in our own products,
as well as those of John Wiley & Sons, Dialog Information Services,
Ovid Technologies, BIREME and other major publishers. In assembling
the National Research Register, Research Findings Register,
and DOH Annual Reports, we work with the Department of Health
and over 350 organisations from the National Health Service in England,
Scotland and Wales.
