Evolving City, a year-long programme of cultural events was launched in March 2005 by Oxford Inspires. Update Software was chosen to design the website and database for Evolving City because of its expertise in combining clarity of presentation with database management and programming.

Evolving City was a year long programme of over 100 projects, events and festivals that took place in and around Oxford in 2005. It was designed to encourage people to think about how Oxford is changing, and the role of artists, scientists and cultural organisations in shaping the City's future.

A substantial part of the Evolving City programme was the initiative's web presence. Update Software provided this presence by hosting, designing, and creating a website for Evolving City. The site collated and provided information on events happening throughout the year in and around Oxford.

The public side of the site contained searchable listings of events, news sections, a registration area for a bi-weekly newletter, information about the various themes, funding, and sponsors of the Evolving City programme.

In addition to the public face of the site Update also developed a custom administration interface allowing authors to add, remove and edit various sections of the site, for example news items and events within the listings section.
